Earliest MK3 that comes with CarPlay/Android Auto?

Featured Replies

Currently toying with the idea of upgrading my Octy and looking at a MK3. Just wondering what's the earliest MY that included CarPlay/Android Auto? Or do all MK3 models come with it?

MY15 I think.

Some 65 plates, but iirc it’s MY16 that has it.

My 15 plate was built in April 2015, just too early to get a MIB2 which is required for CarPlay/Android Auto.

Build week 22 2015, MY2016. But you can fit a newer radio into an older car if you know the right people. Expensive and not for the faint of heart though.

Thanks for the info everyone. Couple more questions:

  1. Is it only available on certain head units? E.g. Columbus
  2. Does it have to be factory-installed? Or if I bought a car without it, could it be retro-activated?

It’s available on all units post MY16 and if it’s not activated already it’s £137 to have it activated at the dealer. It can be done outside the dealer but it costs about the same.
