Skoda Yeti Front Fog Lights. 2 bulbs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

So i have recently bought a 2012 Skoda yeti with Halogen headlights and no cornering lights (i don't think?!)

The fog lights at the front have 2 bulbs. One top and one bottom.

When turning the fogs on the bottom bulb comes on and I cannot for the life of me find how to turn the top bulb on?

Could anyone help? I've tried side lights and full beam and cannot see how to turn these on. Cannot find anything in the manual either!

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

The top bulb is the DRL (Daytime Running Light). Depending on the specification of your Yeti the DRL's can be turned on or off using the cars infotainment system and/or the Maxidot (central display between the dials).

You should check that...

a) You have the "Dayl. dri. light" (Daylight Driving Light) check box option within the Lights & Vision menu.

b) That the check box is ticked.

You can use the buttons and scroll wheel on the right side of the steering wheel (model dependant) to access and navigate the menu's.

The DRL's will turn on with the ignition and turn off as soon as side lights or dipped headlights are turned on (either manually or automatically).

The purpose of DRL's is to make you more visible during daylight hours. Once the conditions determine dipped headlights are required they turn off.

On the facelift Yeti the DRL's double up as side/parking lights, so they remain turned on but their brightness is reduced, but on your pre-FL Yeti they are DRL's-only.

What model is your Yeti (your profile is a little sparse)? Some of the base models, even though they had front fog lights, did not have the cornering feature enabled. With your dipped headlights turned on if you either turn on the indicator (at speeds under 40kph) and/or turn the steering wheel the corresponding fog light should illuminate. If reverse gear is engaged then both front fog / cornering lights illuminate.

If this doesn't happen they can be enabled by changing the CANBUS coding using diagnostic software plugged in via the OBD port above the drivers feet, such as VCDS, Carista or OBDeleven etc.

It's a 2012 Skoda Yeti Urban 1.2 TSI. Sorry for my profile -I'm new and just getting the hang of things. I also don't know how to reply to your message like they do on here including your post in mine.

It does not have Xenons like the car in the picture and I don't think it has cornering lights.

No fogs come on in reverse.

How to i get into this menu to change this?

If you would like to you can add details of your Yeti into your profile here...

It should then look something similar to this...

Whether you have xenon or halogen headlights has no influence on the DRL / fog light configuration.

All Yeti's with factory fitted xenon headlights do have the cornering light function enabled though. As you have halogens whether you have the cornering lights will depend on year of manufacture and model specification.

If you've started the engine, turned on the dipped headlights, switched on an indicator or turned the steering and the corresponding fog light is not on, then you don't have the feature enabled.

This is a pre-FL MkII Octavia, bu the operation of the cornering fog lights on the Yeti is the same...

They can be enabled, but as previously mentioned you need to use a laptop and dedicated software to activate them.

Going back to the DRL's then the Yeti Urban defiantly has the multi-function steering wheel with the buttons and Maxidot (the Urban special edition benefited from Amundsen+ Sat-Nav, DAB radio, multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth and the ability to play music via an SD card), so you should be able to turn them on and off yourself.

How to access the menu is detailed in your owners manual, however it is relatively self-explanatory once you've played around and familiarised yourself with the steering wheel buttons.
