I haven't been on this site for years but I need some help. I bought a mk1 Octavia elegance estate, 1.8t when it was only 5 months old. I ran it for 4 years then sold it to my parents who ran it till they unfortunately passed away 18 months ago. The car is still on their drive. The house has been sold and I just dont know what to do with the car. My sentimentality is clouding  me. It's in great condition, has been maintained meticulously and has a mountain of paperwork.  135k ish. It's not moved in the last 6 months so has no mot or tax and I reckon the cam belt is due but it's a fully working car. Has anybody any ideas what it might be worth or how best to sell. It's way too good to just scrap it and my heart would break if I did. Can anyone advise a confused ex owner who has become the owner again?

Join freedom on here, advertise it on Briskoda and and see what happens, you could get a ball park figure on price from WBAC.com

Worth a punt and might go to someone who will look after it

Good Luck.

Freedom gives you access to more Items including allowed to advertise Items for sale.  Have a look in Membership ( click on shop ) there are various Freedom subscriptions I think.

The Membership Tab is in the Bar across the top of this page, I think the cheapest is only a Fiver.

AG, that links to a California accountancy site?  I'm sure they're a helpful organisation but I don't think they offer used car values for the UK :)

Parkers offer a value range for given models, but the ranges can be pretty wide as I've discovered over time.

I don't know where the OP @Iansands is based as that also has an impact on values and saleability.

Having just fettled another Octavia we bought after it had been standing for some months I can tell you we had to replace the front brakes (rust), brake fluid (stale), tyres (cracks) wipers (hard) and after a full oil and filter service this time will be replacing the cambelt/water pump next time.  It's a great car and we're very happy but we've already spent a multiple of the purchase price to get this far.

I'd suggest you're looking at scrapping it (painful but over and done) or trying to find a willing fettler who is prepared to do what is necessary to keep it as a going concern and thus respect your sentimental attachments.  Otherwise it's ebay/autotrader and sell it to the best tyre-kicker's offer and turn your back on it.  Sorry if I sound harsh but been there, done that.  BTW would you like to but a t-shirt? :)

I have a couple of "friends in low places" who can help me on occasion with real used vehicle values so if you would like to PM me the registration number I'll see what I can dig up for you.

As much as your response seems harsh, I think it's probably extremely accurate. WBAC only make offers with a full mot but its still only around a hundred quid even if it had one. It's such a great engine, I've always loved the 1.8T, you'd think that would be worth a few hundred on its own.

If it is a good runner, just advertise it and see what offers you get........

A good specked Octavia estate, (as the Elegance is so long as most stuff still works) in reasonable condition should still have a good following.

Good luck.
