Anybody know the cheapest place to find a rear wiper motor?

 

I noticed smoking from this area when driving back home earlier, and found that when I took the plastic trim surround off, water was dripping down from the motor, which looked a rusty colour.

 

Is this a common problem with the MK1's?

very common problem due to the rather daft motor design on the hatchback..

not sure on where for a replacemnt other than fleabay etc...

To give you an idea of cost.  Replaced mine a few years back and its been ok.  Main issue is getting the arm off the old one !

I went for removing wiper all together and filling the resulting hole with a blank from kill all wipers.
