Scala 1.5TSI Oil specification and consumption

Featured Replies

Im interested to hear from others what they have seen in their 1.5 TSI  Scalas over the first few thousand Miles/KMs in regard to oil consumption and specification.

The Scala Manual specifies VW 504 00 spec, ACEA C3 and my dealer advised me to use Castrol Edge Long Life 5w30 ( This oils states it meets the specification and as it is recommended by the dealer service center, so it will not void the warranty)

The manual also stares some oil will be consumed for the first 5000KMs

How much oil have you seen the Scala use over the initial run in period and after?

Im in a mild coastal climate here  - so oil spec may differ between countries which is why I asked the dealer for the local oil spec rather than default European spec.

Maybe that is how it is in New Zealand, Australia.

Elsewhere in the world Skoda have been using VW508 / 509 which is 0w 20 FS IV.

That was started before the WLTP was required to help them get the results they did.

The Oil can use 0.5 litre in the first 5,000 km is in every Owners manual for every VW engine and has been for over a decade.

That is their cover all story.

We don't have the same strict emission standards here and  it never gets outside 0-30 degrees C in any year where I am. (no below freezing startups)  That might explain the difference in spec
