Is a heated front screen retrofit possible?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2015 scout with heated front seats.

Does anyone know whether the wiring is present to enable retrofit of a heated front screen?

If it is, what other than a replacement screen, heater control panel and coding would be required?

Thanks

The wiring isn’t present and it would be well over £1000 to do this. Nobody sells a kit for it so you would have to research on ETKA and ErWin to find out exactly what you need.

Thanks - I’ll live with it as it is

Sorry to bear the bad news but the cheapest you can get a heated screen is £800 for the glass, then ADAS calibration on top plus the wiring, it’s not worth it. A great extra, but not a viable retrofit sadly.

I’d hoped because the car has heated seats that make up part of the “winter pack” which is the only way to spec the heated screen the wiring could be there. I hadn’t realised the glass was as expensive so definitely not a viable option which is what I expected.

Well, the BCM will likely have the pins available for it, but there isn’t a spare plug already in the car waiting sadly and yes, the glass is the real killer cost.

I ordered winter pack as part of my car, came with heated seats, mirrors but no heated screen.......

I was not happy but did end up with £500 back from the dealer for the mistake. Would have preferred the screen to be honest

TBH the seats are nice but the screen is the real deal breaker for me.  On a frosty morning I set it warming up and scrape my wifes car off.  Then jump back into a nice warm car and just drive off.  for some reason the side windows defrost quicker too.  Maybe the extra heat from the screen is filling the car quicker?

It's a feature I'll be paying for on the next car.

Luckily my ex-demonstrator is fitted with the heated front screen - ironically it doesn't get much use as I garage the vRS every night - handy though if I'm out late in the Winter and the screen is frosty when I get back to the car, or if it steams up in the wet.

Only downside is I sometimes find myself focusing on the element.

Did the pricelist say the winter pack includes a heated screen? If a price list has "Winter Pack" then it usually lists what that pack consists of.

It was listed, just not fitted. It was apparently checked and signed at quality control too.

Sometimes mistakes happen, and having had quite a few cars from new this was the first major one for me.

Still have the same car now so it's not all bad news 🤷‍♂️

Why didn't they order up a new car for you then? I wouldn't have accepted anything less if found to be their mistake.

Tax free purchase, after paying £££s to get to the UK in the first place the offer of a £500 refund was welcomed, and if remember correctly was more than the total cost of the option anyway.

Like I mentioned, mistakes happen I still drove off in a new car and have enjoyed it since.

Not sure I’d of been so understanding but as long as you’re happy that is the important thing.

The extra load on the alternator probably warms the cabin and side windows quicker.
