Tailgate Latch ...Jammed

Featured Replies

Senario........Tailgate was quite full of luggage, put in a soft bag with long handle straps. As I slammed tailgate, one strap must have fallen towards and onto the latch mechanism post. The way the latch post  is fitted caused the bag handle to jam the latch on locking. Fortunately ,front doors released after on central locking. On lowering rear seats ,saw the bag strap jammed in with latch mechanism.I was able to partly pull and cut the strap clear.

If the latch post were shielded over the top, this situation would not happen.I am thinking of  fitting a cover plate ,to hopefully prevent a recurrence.....
