Playing Music SD Card

Featured Replies

Had my new Kamiq a fortnight or so. Getting to grips with IT. Something that is foreign to me! I have a lot of music on a SD card that used to play on my old Rapid. Bought a card reader for the USB ports but I am getting an error message that it isn't recognised. Anyone having similar issues? Its a bit galling that I put everything onto an sd card specifically for my Rapid than when I upgrade it isn't recognised!

I didn't realise it had an SD Card slot! Since I bought my Kamiq I've only used the apple CarPlay, where is the SD card slot? Which model do you have?

I had the exact same issue when I switched from a Skoda Citigo Monte Carlo to an UP GTI.

It turned out that whilst the older model recognised a range of different music formats  MP3, MWA, M4a etc etc the new system only recognised MP3 and I had to convert all the music on the SD Card to MP3 format which was irritating but didn't take too long as my laptop did it all for me - you can find instructions on the internet.

That said the manual says it should accept most formats.

It doesn't have an sd slot. My old rapid dad. I bought a card reader so I could play the sd card music but it isn't being recognised. The error message suggests that it is the card that isn't recognised rather than individual tracks. You think changing them to mp3 would work? OK I will look into it thanks.

That isn't it. There are a lot of mp3 files already on the card. Seems to be the card its not recognising or the card reader, I suppose.

Sorry I hadn't read your post properly about the card reader.

The manual states that the USB port will only support FAT 32 or NTFS systems on a USB stick or storage device or phones using Android, IOS or Windows

Ok thanks for the input. I am going to try to reformat it. See if it works

it might not accept the card reader transfer to usb stick

I gotta say that these usb c ports are a pain. Connectivity wise virtually nothing seems to connect. Card reader isn't recognised. USB c to android data cable connects then doesn't as the car is moving. I read that it should be possible to connect wireless via android auto but seems not in my experience. All of my data cables do not work through USB to USB C adapte except one. Even my cable that happily worked with a firestick doesnt connect. The only cable that works is the one that came with my partners tablet. It allows me to connect android auto but is ridiculously long. If it wasn't for this I would assume that the ports were not defective. Currently I've a success rate of less than 10 per cent! Perhaps skoda should have stayed with standard USB ports! I am something of a technophobe but it I'm not a complete numpty. It should be easier than this skoda! Any advice gratefully received.

Did you get a cable off the dealer when you picked the car up they normally give you one

Really? No I didn't get one. Should I request one or is it up to the dealer? I did contact him after as I honestly thought one or both were not connected as I'd tried so many leads and adapters and nothing was even charging my phone let alone connecting android auto. He didn't say anything. Maybe its up to the dealer.

I got on to the dealer but it is shut at the mo. Understandably of course. Finally got my music sorted with this tho. Needed formatting FAT32 as stated. Standard USB one end for laptop. USB C other end. Worked a treat. Thanks for your help.

That's a good find, twenty quid for a 128GB USB stick, I've ordered one myself on offer from Amazon 🙂

p.s. May I ask did you try NTFS first? The manual says that FAT32, EXFAT and NTFS are all supported.

I didn't no. Just formatted FAT32 and it worked. Unlike most things I've tried!

I ordered yesterday late afternoon and it arrived today just after midday. It was already formatted FAT32 so I left it as it was and dropped a few CD's onto it to test. Realised that it is best to write files onto it in small batches after nearly burning my fingers when I took it out of the computer, continuous writes of large amounts of data generate a lot of heat 🙄.

Works perfectly in both USB slots in the Kamiq

Is there an online manual which explains how to use the music system .  I have a similar problem to the previous questions.  My music is on an SD card was told by the dealer to transfer it on to a memory stick .  I did this successfully but cannot work out where to put it to play as obviously the connection is larger than the usb input which are only mobile phone size.  I have a converter box which has all the lead sizes in - will it play through this using the lead which has a small USB at one end and a memory stick at the other?

go to the dealer and get one of the ones i have posted above the dealer normally gives you a adaptor like the ones above on my post. The owners Manual you got with the car has info in there. Or online skoda manuals

Thank you skoda 1982.  The dealer did not offer an adaptor so I will call in and ask for one.   I have watched a few online reviews since I posted my first message and found the comments and tours of the car more helpful than the manual.  There is very little about the infotainment system included with mine but have spent a little time playing about with it and seems fine.   I have come down from a 2L TD Yeti to a 1L SEL with 115 turbo Kamiq and hadn't realised until collection that  I have lost cup holders  and an arm rest in the back seat and one of the reviews mentioned fold down airplane type but there aren't any in mine. Only picked up the new car on Friday and I like what I have seen so far but at the end of the day - it's not a YETI!  Cheers for you help!

I don't have a problem with android auto wireless its never faltered. Picked my car up on the 25/1/21 but I cannot get primary user to activate. No one at skoda connect or at the dealer knows how to sort it. Been battling with it for over a week tried creating new profiles tried activating over my own Internet rather than the cars own Internet but nothing. My profile loads up on the car ok but primary user wont activate. I need it to activate for all the advanced features so if anyone knows or have any tips then I would be grateful

I've read this thread with great interest as the Fabia the Kamiq has replaced had a CD drive in it.  Obviously, I will need to copy my CDs to the USB drive, apparently track by track, but once on the drive is there some way I can select a track or do I just have to start at the beginning and play to the end?
