Todays little mod was an easy swap, removed the standard screen wash cap for the newer funnel version, just over £9 including postage.

 

Took all of 5 mins to fit

Usually these things are actually cheaper from TPS or a VAG dealer than what they are being sold for on E bay even before the postage is added.

 

I treated myself to a Skoda "Simply Clever" rubbish bin that clips onto the side door pocket and takes tiny bin liners, it was 40% cheaper from TPS than the Ebay sellers.

 

I would not pay £9 for a cap to throw away a perfectly serviceable one, my hands dont shake that much yet!

 

Its simply a case of learning how to decant liquid from a plastic container while keeping the screwtop opening at the highest point. No different to learning how to pull a pint.

Funny. This cap wouldn’t actually be required had somebody at the pre production stage said “Eh, won’t the position of that bonnet strut make filling the water bottle a little awkward?”.

Yes it's a bit of a pointless mod, but it's cheaper than bonnet struts, makes it a bit easier to top up around the bonnet stay

The bonnet struts for my Octavia 2 were cheaper than that and I found that it worked well with just one replacing the stock stay,  fitting the other required fabricating bracketry, so when I was fixing a detached driveshaft for my neighbour when he was ill I fitted the other one to his Octavia as a surprise.

 

2 cars, 2 upgrades "just for the sake of it" 🥴
