What does this mens that battery have 38Ah

Featured Replies

Hi.

I bough a and new battery and Put in my car. After installing it vcds show the following status when I have overnight put external charger that show that battery is fully charged.
see the picture. Does this mean that battery is not good.

I have measured battery voltage at start and when car starts it drops from 12,8v to 11,1v and later to 10.6volt. Car also showed once glow plug mil light and vcds show following error rpm too low.

The new battery right after installing in car show battery low mil lamp. But overnight charged gave the result over.

Is this battery not good. It have 760cca and 70ah from local general car selling store.

hope someone can figure out what.
I have changed one fuel pump because of this before. Because car cranked 5 to 7 times before start but now with new battery it starts fine but it have given on the morning first start low rpm on fuel pump.

Regards

start by checking all the earhting points and connections as a bad earth or a short somewhere could be draining the battery.

that or your alternator isnt chatging the battery properly.

voltage drop during starting is normal, but if after running the voltage isnt back up its either excess load (short) or its not getting charged back by the alternator.

First of all thanks for answer and helping me.

Ok. I have ordered a powerprobe so i am waiting for this before I can do these checks. Because last time I connected wrong on som fuses and get sparks.
so I quit the fault finding. I saw a video on YouTube that was not explained well.

but does picture mean that this is what is charged and that number should be 70Ah when fully charged battery.

Or does this mean that this is the battery’s life time rest. Since this is the new battery I can claim and change to another one.

After driving for one hour now i can see that it shows 45 Ah. This should mean that alternator is good?

Hope you have or someone have.

I think you've posted in the wrong forum, based on the ECU part number, this is a MK3 Octavia?

Did you follow the battery change procedure and recode the car so it knows a new battery has been fitted: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Battery_Replacement

Your VCDS is also out of date, the latest is 20.04 which can be downloaded from here: https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/current.php

Hi.

yes this is an Octavia MK3. I may have done something wrong but I thought I posted it in right forum. How can this be moved to right place?

Coding have not been done. A friend helped me changing battery. And I have to ask and pay for coding.

Is there any wiring diagram that is possible to get for this car?

an moderator will move it for you...

wont you @gadgetman?

please?

I've also asked a mod to move it :)

Coding definitely needs doing, the system learns how much capacity a batter has so needs resetting when a new battery is fitted. That's probably why the Ah is so low in VCDS.

The official source is https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do

It's a paid service and I think an hour is about €7 + tax. If you do use it, I'd suggest you "print to pdf" to keep the wiring diagrams etc for later use ;)

One thing more.. My battery does not have any wonder number sticker but only a serial number since it is not a VARTA or something but it is a Start Stop AGM 12v 760cca battery.

It cost 1749kr
