Yes, it does have a turbo - "tdi" stands for "turbo diesel injection".

Can you explain what you mean by "let it cool down after driving"?

I used to have a car with a turbo vauxhall astra 2ltr turbo petrol and had to let it cool down for 30 secs before turning it off just wanted to know if I need to do the same with my skoda

I have to say it's something I've never heard of for an Octavia (we have two tdis and they're absolutely fine with a normal switch off at end of run).

Maybe someone else has more info on this?

Assuming you're driving normally, you should be fine to switch it off.

If you've been driving it really really hard or on a track, it might be worth giving it a few minutes to let everything cool down slightly?

I'd personally always let it cool down, especially after a long drive. Better to wait 30 seconds than buy a new turbo.
Cooled mine down for each journey, still on my original turbo. Thats with a stage 1 map pushing the engine 30% ish more, plus it has covered 250,000 miles (160,000 of that with the map). I've known people who don't do the cool down destroy a turbo in about 60-80,000.

I've always assumed the cooling fans would run on if the plant was too warm after a run but never thought about the poor overworked turbo.  Thanks all.
