Auto-window close if raining.

Featured Replies

Here's a puzzle. The last Yeti I had, 170 Elegance with lots of toys, had an auto-close function for the windows & pan roof. When parked, let's say on a nice spring day, with windows down & the panroof open all open a wee bit, as long as it was locked & the wipers were in "Auto" setting, when it rained, everything closed automatically. My 150 Edition Kodiaq on an 18 plate doesn't seem to have this, at least I can't find any mention of it in the manual. Anyone any idea if this has been deleted or is available as an option? Very useful to have just now, we've had some cracking weather & I've been opening things to keep the inside cooler. Any info much appreciated. Stay well & safe, we'll get through this horrible time eventually.

Looks like it’s another useful feature that’s been done away with.

Yeah, this featur is gone.

You can just in case check your rain sensor in windshield. If it has 4 sensors, then it can still be coded. If only two sensors, then no way.

Thanks, Kenny R, looking at the posts above, it's been deleted on safety grounds. Pity, it was very useful. My first Yeti was a 10 plate 140 Elegance, no roof but had a couple of very small leds in the top console, illuminating the area around the gearstick, excellent feature & didn't cause a distraction when driving at night, they were very accurately targetted. Last Yeti, as per current Kodiaq had the roof & I reckon the leds went to make way for the extra switch gubbins in the top console, but that's just a guess.

The policy of VW group is the newer the cheaper. Not sure if that is because they have to pay through their nose for DieselGate.

Sadly, you will continue to regret the first Yeti Elegance. Great car.

Yep , the original Yeti was very well specced from the start, but in common with all other manufacturers, downgraded the base spec & a huge options list. My Kodiaq had <3k miles when I bought it, at just over a year old, an ex-management car with quite a few, but not all options. It's exactly the spec I was looking for, so very happy with it. Took delivery October '19 & now have just less than 10k miles, not many of them in the last 3 weeks, that's for sure. Stay well in Spain.

Useful feature!  Yeh, I'm always wishing I could leave all the windows down and roof open then lock the car and walk away.  WTF.    If I were to look up all those who complain about the vunerabilities of KESSY on this forum, I wonder how many names would appear of those who seem to think it's OK to lock your car with sunroofs and windows open!  Jeez, I can't believe anyone would even consider that.

As for the topic created by wavefront...  I have a really useful feature too - it's called an ultrasonic alarm. if I lock the car and absent mindedly leave the roof open, this loud alarm goes off.  Weren't your Yeti's alarmed?

For a car to start closing windows and sunroofs without anyone being in control is a ludicrous safety oversight. What on earth were the designers thinking.

If you find it useless , many of us find it very handy. Had it on my Superb.

Hot summer day, you are leaving to shoppig center for an hour and leave the roof opened. No one is going to jump in but saloon remains vented.

Same here, works car park hot day, pop sunroof drop front windows a bit, car not like an oven when finished work. And if it rains whilst your working, roof and windows close so your not greeted with a soaking wet interior, simples.

Each to their own as they say.

Not everyone parks their car in public view.

KESSY vulnerabilities allow the car to be unlocked, but more importantly the engine to be started, not the same as 'Rain Closing'.

Leaving the sunroof (or windows) open and locking the car does not result in the instantaneous sounding of the alarm. Something needs to pass in front of the ultrasonic sensors, such as an insect, which could be well after you're out of earshot.

The windows and sunroof have an anti-trap feature and force limiter, if they detect resistance they stop and reverse, so unless you're thinking of a different safety related issue I don't think I'd describe the automatic closing of the windows a ludicrous safety oversight.

I can’t be arsed voting on this one 😀

Almost beer time - it is a holiday weekend after all. Mmmmm what to do ??
