Aircon not blowing very hard. Fault code B108B71 actuator jam

Featured Replies

Hi guys

So today my Octavia's aircon decided to play up. It Ran nice and cold and had plenty of blowing power and all of a sudden it sounds like the recirculaton is turned on when it's not. The fans won't blow much cold air out any more.

I've plugged in my obd11 and got a fault code B108B71. Air flow flap motor actuator jammed it says. I've reset it and started it all up and within 2 minutes of the aircon running it does it again.  Screenshot_20200409-151130_OBDeleven.thumb.jpg.55e22456809bb7e5277e7a4de6ae477f.jpg

Anybody else experienced this problem before?

I've  had this a couple of times usually at the worst times when I needed the screen to claer on the motorway. Wasnt able to scan it though and it never recorded a fault, just lack of air from the fan as iff all the flaps were closed. I did a recalibrate and to be honest it's not gone it since.

Thanks for replying.

Sods law this happens when the weathers warm and garages being shut!

I've tried that method in the video 3 times and it still isnt working properly. But, I haven't turned the ignition off directly after it so may give that a go.

The blowers work absolutely fine in any temperature I set and have good fan power behind them but as soon as you turn the aircon on, the blower stays loud but theres no power at all. It does sound like the car fans are stuck in recirculate but they arent.

Probably this was posted so long ago it's unlikely I'll get an answer, but (and I realise you're not naturally English spoken Stanian, so the error is understandable) the meaning is not understandable. When you say 'it's not gone it since' do you mean it's not gone wrong since, or it's not gone correctly since?

I have code B108B71 but haven't really noticed any working problems with the HVAC. Anyway, I have done the re-set as shown in the video above and it all seems to work as it should (although it's hard to test the recirc until you get behind a diesel Transit!, I've cleared the code to see if it will reappear later.

One little anomaly I have noticed is that usually, but not always, the fan will go from full and turn down one light at a time till there are three lights left, then one more click anti-clockwise it goes off. The turning back on it skips to three lights on and then goes up one light at a time. Sometimes it goes from off to full one light at a time. A bit random.

As a general rule of thumb for any found fault codes, can you clear them off if you suspect, or to test to see if, there isn't actually a problem safe in the knowledge that if the problem is still present it will come up again?
