Coronavirus: Cycling numbers in Scotland jump during lockdown.

Featured Replies

The number cycling, or more people maybe cycling more often for longer is no surprise, but what surprised be in the '60 cycle counters' in Scotland.

?

Are these on Cycle Paths or the same counters that are on roads to count traffic flow?

How long have they been in place and getting statistics etc etc ?

Cycle counters are just like the traffic light activation grid, so a buried loop, I think they will be just on some of the proper cycle routes and are not a sidehustle of a car counter, usually just a little equipment post with a solar cell on the top, though it appears you might have posh ones oop there, most I've seen haven't got the display unit:-. https://www.falco.co.uk/products/cycle-parking/live-cycle-counter-data/whitecrook-street,-clydebank.html

Hi George,

Not been on here for ages, hope everyone's well.

Glad to hear you're still cycling, I use my e-assist folder maybe once a week, the used blue Leaf is parked up, just the occasional groceries trip, having to trickle charge its 12v battery roughly weekly, as the system to trickle charge from the big traction battery is a known weak point of these cars when they're parked up.

Also pleased to hear you'll be switching to an e-Corsa, have seen a bronze one at Lymm services before the lockdown, driver heading to Shetland, starting a UK tour of dealers, a familiarisation exercise, the driver told me.  It was remarkably similar in size, and colour, to my henna red Mk1 Astra diesel from way back when.

We've also had one of the Peugeot equivalents at a Yorkshire EV Club meet, a dealer demo all stickered up!

Best wishes, keep safe, keep busy, I'm gradually repainting all my garden fences, run out of green for the wood, but have plenty cream for the concrete posts and so-called "mud boards".

@RichardatWakefield  All is good thanks.

I have a nice light push bike ready to go in the back of the Corsa with just the front wheel off so that i can have a ride about as the car charges,

i have loads of places i intend going to and have all the free rapid chargers marked out on my planned routes.

Been trying to do some riding not on an e-bike but it seems a bit too much like exercising...

All the best to you and yours.
