Is there a VCDS mod that can be made to reduce/eliminate tramping?

Featured Replies

My 1.5 TSi DSG tramps on greasy surfaces in anything but sedate driving. Can VCDS help to cure or reduce this?

Yes, tie the VCDS cable to your foot and then to the steering wheel column, this will then prevent full stampdown mode on the go faster pedal and thus avoid tramping. Otherwise I don't think VCDS will help.

Isn't there a VCDS tweak to make the XDS intervene more aggressively?

On our arona we have it set in eco as this makes the throttle less agressive and much easier to drive without getting all trampy and clunky.  Probably just my driving style but works for us/me.

Edit: It's odd that I do thid as my octy has a pedal box for the opposite reasons.  Different style of car I guess.

You might be able to do the linear throttle mod on vcds. That will make the throttle less twitchy. I dont know why that isnt standard any way. Years ago throttles were cable and you had much better throttle control

Better tyres, TC off, (better with less of the car deciding to nip the brakes or cut power) and if the surface does not allow enough traction for the surface being accelerated on then the accelerator needs to be used to suit the surface.

Try this:

Quote

1, Select [03] ABS
2. Select 10 Adaptation
3. From the pull down menu, select “Expanded electronic differential lock”
4. In the New value box select : “Standard”, “Not activated”, “Weak”, “Medium”, “Strong”

Be aware that as XDS is a system that uses the brakes, ramping up the strength will ramp up the usage of your brakes - to what extent depends on how often your driving would cause XDS to intervene.

You could try the starting vibration reduction mod.

OP's 1.5 doesn't have the e-diff, right? I doubt there's any software (VCDS) mods that will reduce what is essentially a hardware-based issue.

The dogbone / lower engine mount swap sorted axle-tramp for me (admittedly for a 300bhp VRS), so could be different. But the OEM engine mount is a key cause for tramp due to the excessive 'play' in the connection - something that is felt more in higher powered cars, but will feel similar in lower-powered but lower-traction (greasy) circumstances.

Better engine mounts may increase higher noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) but it's been 100% worth it for me personally to remove such an annoying issue.
