Media screen replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all been a while since I posted on here, got myself into a 2017 sportline estate and it has the basic Columbus unit, looking to just upgrade the screen with a 8" touchscreen version as it will improve the interior aesthetics, from research I believe as im just changing the screen there shouldn't be any component protection issues, but im wondering if it is as straightforward as removing one and fitting the other, or is there a different surround or bezel that needs to be fitted also?

The Columbus is not the basic unit.

U mean u want to upgrade to the buttonless 9.2" Columbus, which is MIB2.5?

The 2017 has the 8" Columbus MIB2 unit with buttons.

I know of two ppl who've done this upgrade - and the new screen needs the matching headunit (in the glove box) and it also required component protection to b removed.

Yes I have been speaking to VAG retrofit about it, I'm aware that I need the unit in the glovebox due to the screen resolution not being correct for the buttonless screen. As I am a bargain hunter I'm gonna go down the route of sourcing the parts myself hopefully do it for less than the quoted £900.

Thanks for the input.
