ACC display on retrofit Virtual Cockpit Superb

Featured Replies

I’m wondering if somebody has come across this and knows the answer.

I’ve got VCP at my disposal, but I’m trying to find a solution that doesn’t have me mucking about in all the different adaptions and control modules. If it comes to that, I guess it’ll have to happen.

Anyway, on to the problem.

I’ve had a Virtual Cockpit retrofitted in my MY2018 Superb. It’s been working flawlessly, with a single small hiccup.

The ACC itself works as intended and keeps the distance it’s supposed to, however the display in the instrument cluster does not work the way it should.

Whenever the car detects a vehicle in front, it will always display it as being at the closest possible option (it displays as if you’re tailgating), no matter what the ACC setting “underneath” the car symbol is. In other words, the car in front doesn’t get closer on the display as you’re approaching it, it’s either there at the closest possible display value, or not there at all.

Anybody with a clue where I should go looking in VCP/VCDS to get this functional again?

Thanks!

I’m afraid I can’t help you, but I hope with this bounce someone will jump in and help.

However, I’m stunned this was even possible, so well done on that point alone! Kriva, where on earth did you pick up one of the virtual units and at what cost?

Thanks for the bump.

Earlier today, the guy who installed the Virtual Cockpit for me managed to fix what was wrong via TeamViewer.

Great after-sale service!

If anyone ever has this problem and needs it fixed, don’t hesitate to send a PM my way. If you have VCP available, it’s a relatively easy fix, though it’s not exactly the most intuitive thing to find.

@numskull It is possible, and it’s even relatively straight forward if the correct boxes are ticked(mainly the 9,2” Columbus). Don’t expect this to be an easy or cheap retrofit though, it’s a lot more cost effective to tick the option when ordering the car. For me, that wasn’t an option since I have a MY2018 car and VC wasn’t available “back then”.

Still extremely glad I went for the retrofit, though.

All in all, I paid about 2000€ for the retrofit.

€2,000?!?!?! Sheesh! Yep, I really like the virtual cockpit, but not at that cost. The ridiculous thing is of course, that the VC will cost substantially less to manufacture than the analogue unit. And then they go and whip out the passenger umbrella from the L&K....

What did you do with trim around Columbus screen? I just bought 9,2'' version screen and I'm waiting to upgrade main unit from MIB 2 to MIB 2.5 firmware. I just replaced screen for test and I found out, that 9,2'' version is cca. 1 cm "more out" on the top as the old 8'' screen of Columbus with MIB 2.

I never had to change anything, since I already had the correct Columbus unit.

However, I did have to order one trim piece at my local dealership, the piece which provides the transition between the steering column and the dashboard is different between the analog dashboard and the digital one. Price for that little piece of trim was about 50€, so I don’t expect replacement trim for the Columbus unit to be cheap.

If you need an extra piece of trim, I would advise to contact a dealer, or someone with access to ETKA.

Does any one of you know the front side light channel?

Whilst I can’t be sure about what is or isn’t missing in terms of coding on your car of course, the missing parameter for my coding was this:

In control group 13, Adaptive Cruise Control, enable FPK_Functions via Adaptations.

That was basically it for my car.

Let me know if this helped you out @RomanB
