Alarm systems fault

Featured Replies

I cannot get rid of the following alarms ABS ESC TPM Power steering.I have checked tyres bulbs fuses all ok.I have replaced battery. Alarms are on from start up and remain on,faults were present before battery replacement. Am I missing something or is it a garage job.Neighbour cancelled alarms using vds. No faults came up.restarted car alarms still up.

Might be worth posting autoscans from VCDS before clearing and after clearing the faults :)

I'm confused.
You state "alarms", but do you mean "fault codes" or warning lights on the dash?

How long ago did you change the battery?
How far have you driven it since replacing the battery?
Exactly what Yeti do  you have: model, age, etc?

When I changed the battery on both of mine there were numerous lights on, on the dash, but after driving no more than 100 yards they all went out.

could be an abs sensor, I had similar with relevant lights on on dash, eventually cleaned the plugs/sockets on the abs system with proper switch cleaner, reset the system it gave the warnings for some time then cleared itself  --  its been clear now forover 12 months!!

Sorry for any confusion I should have stated warning lights on dash.Changed battery 3 days ago have driven 20 miles stop/start motoring since Car is a 2015 1.2 tsi.elegance without stop /start with 21000 on the clock. This is a second car only used for longish runs.

Had exactly same 'Christmas lights' display on dash a few months back.

AA diagnosed via plug-in while en route to Wales.

Reading as ABS Sensor failure nearside rear.

Caused cascade of other warning lights. AA said safe to drive, just no ABS.

Sorted by supplying dealer, no SKODA quibbles, both rear wheels off, just in case imminent issue found with offside.

Cleaned sensors, took rear seats out and carpet up to check back to a particular loom junction.

No obvious cause found. 'Possibly a small piece of trapped metallic road swarf caused a circuit bridge?'

Reassembled. No faults shown on plug-in. Four hours FOC work.  Thankful I took out extended warranty at time of purchase new.

1500 miles later, no issues.

Will probably be a corroded ABS reluctor ring.

with mine, the rear o/s, ring ok solved by a good quality electrical contact cleaner on the connector behind the back plate however, I do live by the western approaches and there does seem to be a lot of salt in the prevailing winds judging by the speed with which the windows get a coating!
