Transport blocks

Featured Replies

On deciding to "change the wheels front to back" noticed on the rear shocks , "plastic" honeycomb cylinder going 1/2 up the shock ,is this a "transport block" & would it be wise to remove them ? my  2019 1.5 tsi Octavia hatch.

Not read any reports of transport blocks on the rear suspension. What is the ride like?

If they are not easily slip-off removable, like the front ones are when there, then I'd just leave whatever they are in place.

IF (big IF) they are transport blocks left on the rear then it puts an interesting perspective on some complaints of poor very ride from rear beam suspensions.

Most likely the damper gator to prevent dirt getting on the piston.

I did think of that but the holes/gaps are rather large to offer much protection...when able to get the dealership ask them to answer the query ! The insides of all the wheels were  "caked" in road tar / bitumen , now that was a task removing that stuff😓

Some pictures of the honeycomb parts in situ would be very handy.
