Congratultions on the big power!

remember when i said your 1/4 mile was sluggish for a 200bhp car ;)

I think it's impressive. However if I had the money spent on the mods alone i'd probably spend it on my MX5 :) I think injectors alone are like £1k. Still impressive and also not that much smoke either

how much did it cost to get it to that power ?

The injectors are £2k I just checked. The turbo kit is £2.3k and I reckon miscellaneous add another £2k. I'm guessing just over £6k?

😲😲😲

Don't get me wrong I appreciate all the work gone into this.......but.......

What I don't understand......is why spend all that money to get what is basically not much if at all faster than a vRS..........which can be bought for less than the cost of just the mods.

In fairness, looking at the figures......... it has 70 + more horses than an RS but yet no quicker.......

Or am I missing something ?

I bought a golf mk4 tdi back in the day that the previous owner spent around 20k on i kid you not, 6 or 7 k at jabbasport to get to 230bhp and then a further 13k at dervdoctor to get to 270bhp, this was 15 years ago when turbo diesel tuning was in its infancy, certainly suited me i would certainly not of spent that money myself thats for sure.

some people enjoy tuning and the journey, each to their own and all that, could be worse could have a massive drug problem and sniff 6k up the nose 🤷‍♂️

What would also concern me is the fact the guy who has done the work is worried the gearbox will sh** itself...............its like waiting for a timebomb

I spent £7,000 rebuilding a 1977 Triumph Spitfire which just goes to show there is no logic in how to sensibly spend money on a car.................. 😖

hey I'm no stranger to that type of thing, spent over £15k over 12 years on my Land rover not including its purchase price........

I just don't get spending that amount for 1 reason (more power / speed) when you could buy a factory car already there...........

Thats the thing with pushing boundaries things break 🤷‍♂️

depends how sick you get of it, i popped the main shaft straight out of the end of the gearbox in my mk1 fabia vrs (hybrid turbo) was so much fun that car but after a while the repair bills and the uncertainty if the car will get you from A to B starts to wear thin. You do break down / run into issues a lot when pushing power

Thats what i started to do after a while, want a fast car then buy a fast car, the journey isn’t as much fun but you do save a wedge full of cash thats for sure.

Because bobby that has the golf destroyed 2 gearboxes but he didn’t have a diff and upgraded other parts like mine does. He now has a GTD 6 speed as it bolts straight on. Not as easy on the fabia.

Ryan didn’t want to beat on it too hard. Bobby’s golf has did a 5.65 to 60 with less power and around 200kg more weight. It’s easily a sub 5.5 second to 60 car. Ryan even says that himself.

Now I can see it would be worth it to get down to those figures and kind of what I would expect with that amount of horses and torque.............surely you have to give it one go, just for curiosity ??

My mk1 vrs used to do low 6 second sprints to 60 with circa 200bhp so 260bhp will easily see you in the 5’s, if you can get decent traction

Maybe at some point 😂

If the Darkside dude is sure it will do that kind of times, see if he's right 😁

Bo'ness Hill Climb and then Knockhill in the video, I see.  I've been impressed by the Darkside videos I've watched recently.  So much so, I've had a wee correspondence with them about getting 240 bhp in my Yeti.

Well spotted on Bo’ness! Took 3rd place that day which was a tad disappointing as I was 2nd all day till the last run when a legend race car pipped me.

did take 1st in the road car class at Knockhill though.

Easily 10k with the current parts alone, not to mention that's without labour and calculating the parts which were on it before the new mods

Each to their own, If its a car for life then spend as much as you want however if you wrap it round a lamppost tomorrow you better hope them parts are insured:)

Less than half that....

the injectors and turbo are advertised at £4.3k , it means darkside did you a discount or something because otherwise it doesn't add up. I'm not denying the costs, I'm curious how did you do it so cheap? I know a guy with a 1.6 caddy that was charged £1000 for a custom map from Darkside.

You getting a hell of staff discount on these parts or someone's lying about the prices on darksides website?😀

Diff / Intercooler / Exhaust / Clutch / Flywheel then you have suspension / brakes, does add up

Yes not to mention those, I think we were talking power upgrade, engine related. Can you get me parts for my MX5 please? Lol
