Loud HVAC fans

Featured Replies

Are the blower fan motors loud in all Kodiaq’s, or is it a feature of ours?

They’re whisper quiet when the HVAC has the cabin at temperature (so low fan speed). However, when they’re at even a moderate speed they’re pretty loud.

More so than our Golf and the Mazda CX-5 which preceded it.

It’s an MY20 1.5 TSI Edition, if that matters.

If you turn the fan to full, it’s pretty loud - but not much more so than in most cars I’ve had.  Where they were quieter, they didn’t shift so much air.

i normally run on “auto”, so only rarely, and briefly, encounter high fan speeds.  There’s a setting where you can set your preference for fan speed, and I normally leave that on low - it still varies automatically, but with a preference for lower speeds.

As above mine is always selected to auto and I’ve never experienced the fan being loud.

If you press the menu button on the air con control panel, you can select the fans to be moderate, medium, or intensive.

Sounds like yours could be on intensive.

Not really considering It’s a large cabin, so they need to move a lot of air to change to maintain the temperature when particularly hot or cold.

The fans are no louder than those on my Mercedes-Benz E-Class, or any of my previous Skoda's.

I would imagine that the fan will be all but identical to that of the one fitted to your VW Golf.

I'm no HVAC specialist but I guess most of the noise we hear is the air moving / exiting the vents. Perhaps their shape / orientation on the Kodiaq is different.

When the fans are on high, then they've been noisy in every car I've driven.
