I have had a diesel VRS for about 2 months now and I am kind of regretting not going for a 230/245 petrol. Would a remap help push performance close to that as the 230 petrol variant?

I used to have a tuning box on my tdi VRS and I am missing it. I am looking to get it remapped in the future as I am missing the extra oomph.

 

As I'm sure you'll understand, the power / torque range is different in the diesel compared to the petrol VRS.

 

You're only going to get it close to the 230 petrol with just a remap. Wanting more horsepower would require a significant investment in parts (bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump). So with a remap you're looking at an estimate of between 220 and 240hp and between 450 and 500nm of torque, compared to the standard 226hp and 350nm on the 230 petrol (reason it's called the 230 is because it's measured in Pferdestärke)

 

I've driven both the petrol and diesel (both in manual and DSG) and I chose the manual diesel for 3 reason; £30 tax, better MPG / range and the higher torque value.
