got my facelift tail lights today have a question tho

Featured Replies

how do i get to them to take the old ones off.

I cant get to the inside lower nuts cos of the black plastic trim which i can see any screws in.

should it just pull off?

i was being kinda careful dont wanna break anything.

There's four nuts which hold the bolts on the light fittings in place - 1 in each corner. The lowest one on the inside is a bit of a p.i.t.a with the trim in place - Its easy enough to just tug and PING out, then refit once the lights are swapped over.

The black plastic trim is held in by spring clips - 4 I think - which are awkward to get at so you finish up having to exert a lot more force than normal. Does the plastic trim at the bottom of the tailgate aperture need to come off first? That's got a couple of screws as well as trim clips holding it on.

I find a carpet fitter's tack lifter is an excellent tool for exerting pressure on trim clips. It is the size of a screwdriver, with a curved claw end to it (like a mini claw hammer) - cheap in Halfords and removes trim clips with minimal damage to the plastic.
