Skoda rns 510 exchange

Featured Replies

Hi all. Probably a daft question. I am trying to put a Columbus radio into my 2016 Yeti. Got all the cables to fit and checked power going where it should in plugs but when plugged into the radio there is no reaction - no lights or anything. Is this due to Component Protection or a dead radio?

Did you have to use an adaptor? I'd expect a 2016 Yeti to have a 52 pin quadlock rather than the 40 pin quadlock on a RNS-510.

If so, you should check the RNS-510 has both power pins connected.

Hi thanks for your response.  Yes there is a difference in the pins - 52 to 40 - and an adapter cable was used but the pins, according to the wiring diagram on the radio, which should have power are live. Unless there is some inhibitor system I would have expected some light somewhere. I suspect a dead radio - I was given it and told it was working but never saw it myself.

It'll need power on two pins, I think they are labelled as positive and safe? Two powers and ground should be enough to have it turn on with the button.

Have you checked the fuse on the back of the radio is good?

Sounds like a dead un. Simple enough to test with 12v from a power source onto the relevant pins

Edit: as above
