Hardwire Kit Dash Cam

Featured Replies

Hello all, hope you ok, my question is which fuse is the best to use to hardwire Nextbase dash cam so when the ignition is on the dash cam is also on, Skoda Octavia 2017. thank you.

Rear wiper. Number 47 I think.

Thank you for your reply. So it won't cause any trouble??

Shouldn't do. I piggybacked off that fuse and it's been fine.

Rear wiper fuse should work. That's what I plugged my piggyback fuse  for dashcam into aswell. Just test the fuse with a multimeter and make sure it switches off when ignition is switched off. Any fuse that switches off with engine off would work I think.

Rear wiper doesn't work when the ignition is off so that probably means that the fuse switches off with engine off am I right??

I'd still test with multimeter to be sure. But I'm fairly sure that  I used rear wiper fuse with mine and it works fine.

Thanks mate I appreciate that.

Yes, as said above - my dashcam is hard-wired to the rear wiper fuse with a piggyback terminal. Cam comes on and off with the ignition. Been like that for 2 years now with no problems at all.

I hope you have better luck with your nextbase. I've just had to uninstall mine and it's going back to Amazon, including the hardwire kit and rear camera. The nextbase 522gw was awful, it kept turning off when driving due to overheating in 22 degree sun. I was using 1080 60fps settings god knows how much it would have overheated using 4k..

Shame because the build quality was good, although I hated the magnetic mount, it wobbled so much and couldn't be tightened, I ended up putting a large lump of blu tack next to it to stop the vibrations.

I think it was trying to be too fancy, with Alexa built in etc. I'll be trying the Garmin mini next to see how that is!

We shall see, so far so good, can't say a bad thing about it but i have only wanted the basic one that has a Full HD, didn't fancy any 4K or Alexa features etc as i knew I woudn't use them, hopefully it will last a bit. Good luck with your next one and leave some feedback how did it go.
