Who best to help with EPC light

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Car went into limp mode today, alternator light went on and then the EPC light, alternator light went off and car limped along. I don't have a ODB device, am I best going to the main dealer or my local auto electrical specialist.  What would you recommend?

Thanks,

Mike

?

Has the car been laid up and had a flat battery or trouble starting?

What is the car a diesel or a petrol.

?

What servicing has it had if a petrol, like spark plugs changed etc?

I would recommend a mechanic, mobile or local garage.

It is a petrol, yes it has had a flat battery and needed charging after being in the garage for 6 week's or so, but has done one trip before this one without incident.

Regularly serviced by a local small independent, not sure if new plugs were fitted to be honest.

I think I have sorted out the problem without expert help.

Not sure why Roottootemblowinootsoot asked about spark plugs but before going to the garage I decided to check (after recharging the battery) that the battery leads were still connected and the spark plug leads as well. One of the spark plug leads was loose. I re-seated the lead and now the car is running as smooth as ever.

So to answer my own question is before going to a garage do some simple checks for loose or disconnected cables.

Thank you Roottootemblowinootsoot for the nudge.

Mike
