Timing chain kit

Recommended Posts

Sorry no idea but someone will be along that does.

As to sourcing one, what about a local Motor Factors, or who is doing the work, and do they not have a source for Trade Parts?

Is it for this car,

and is that all it needs?  http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/469860-timing-chain-failure-apprantly

What is the engine code? It will help us provide better answers.

If you look in the spare wheel well in the boot there should be a label in there with a bunch of codes on it like this one: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Production_Codes_(PR-Codes)_can_be_found_on_the_Vehicle_Data_Label

The engine code for your car will be three or four letters long. If you're not sure, post a picture of the label here (with the VIN blurred out) and we can tell you what it is.

If it's the 1.2 TSI engine and the pistons/valves are not damaged, your best bet is to get the timing kit from a dealer as this will have updated parts that were introduced to deal with timing chain failures on this engine. I did some digging a while back and posted my findings here:
