Fabia plastic engine cover again !

Featured Replies

Just found this site so I hope you can help. I'm surethis has been asked before, but how do you get that cover off ? My 1.4 Classic is also suffering from the power steering warning light disease, and I want to check the fluid level. Is this the unit you can just see under the battery box ? If so, mine has got a greenplug/bolt on top. Is this the filler hole ? Any idea of the level required ?

The reservoir is under the battery yeah. And its a pig to get to and check.

Make sure you use the correct mineral oil remember.

i think you will find that it will be a faulty steering angle sensor brining the light on rather than the oil (and yes what a crap place to put filler)

I think the covers on the petrol engines are held in place by torx screws. If you feel around the cover underneath you should be able to feel them

Nope. They do just pull off. Just don't be scared of using a bit of force! At least my 1.4 16v cover came off with a pull. ;)

Rang Dutton Forshaw Skoda Maidstone today and they were of the same opinion as you, apparently the sensor is not too expensive either. Thank you !

petrol 8v engine covers are held on by two 10mm nuts, 16v's just pull off along with the diesels.

Already had the diesel one off. Was being nosey. ;) Looks fairly simple under there compared to damn Toyota's! :)

Probably isn't though!
