Fabia owners with upgraded HU

Featured Replies

I've fitted a new head unit to my fabia, but I've now got a few problems.

Firstly the interior light has a very long delay when you take the key out of the ignition which it didn't do before.

Secondly the remote lock doesn't work aswel I have to be right next to the car and point it through the window where as before it would work at any angle/distance.

These might not be related to the new HU but both problems have started since the fitting.

Any comments?

Make/model of HU may be worth posting too - not sure if it's relevant :D

Pioneer DEH-P70BT if that makes any difference :D

I wonder if you've blown a fuse? The radio itself works OK does it? Turns off when you pull the key out the lock, etc? My light is also acting a little weird. In the "lights up when doors open" setting, its permanently got a light glow to it - like a small amount of power is getting to them. Well odd. Might try to get a whole new vRS light fitting, in case they're subtlely different.

yeah radio works ok, just seems weird with the standard HU in the interior light would come on as soon as the key came out. Now there is a 4-5 second delay (ok I know that's nout) I'm not overly worried just wondered if this is the norm or not.

As for the key fob, I'll go find the spare just incase the battery is getting low on the main one.

Did you remember to sort out the K line?

Did you remember to sort out the K line?

:o am I meant to?

yeah you got it ICE numpty here :o

You normally need to swap over two wires to prevent you putting 12v back down the k line. Go to ross tech and search for aftermarket radio problem.

i had same problem with mine when i put a sony hd in.my local skoda dealer sorted it ouit free of charge .took him about 10 mins.

I can't remember which two wires you have to swap over off thetop of my head but I'm sure it'll be in the ICE section somewhere or ask Ross.

Swapping the two wires is for the permanent and switched live feeds to the stereo.

Nothing to do with the K-line which is on a different pin on the ISO connector

cheers just found the same diagram ;)

So from what I understand (read from ross tech) it's just a case of pulling out the wire that mates up to the K-line thus should solve any problems.

If in doubt though I will ask Ross :o:D

I know it's on a different pin in the ISO connector and taping it back isn't the correct fix merely just to allow diagnostics to take place.

But AFAIK the reason for this is that these wires need to be swapped else, as I said above, you end up with a +12v K line.
