topped up coolant-epc light comes on?

Featured Replies

I've just topped up the coolant on my Fabia vrs and the engine management light has come onand won't go out. Any ideas?

why did you need to top it up ? was it very low the level ?

If all you did was top the coolant up in the reservior (big blue cap up the top) then it wont be related.

Requires the codes reading off.

It was about a cm above min,1st time i've topped it up in 18 month so no worries.

I've rang up Sportstech who Revo'd the car about a month ago to see if this could be the problem and the light coming on after topping up the coolant just a coincidence. They said if I nip the car in tomorrow they will plug it into their computer or whatever to check for me.

i just thought if it was very low and you put loads in , may have caused something , anyways keep us informed after its checked tomorrow

my coolant was emptying every week, i took it to the dealers and it needed a new pump of some sort, apparently my remap makes it work overtime and causes it to have a reduced lifespan, i didnt really understand what the guy was on about so i said ok and got it fixed but i can't see how it's related?

Eh? Water pump? Sounds a bit fishy to me..lol

Thats what I said to the dealer, but then again I am hung over this morning and can't think straight

Not quite sure how it would overload the pump as it just pumps water about as it always has, and temperatures should be similar too

Surprised it leaked that much though  - I'd imagine if you didn't have much water in the system it could cause some serious overheating though

How much did it take to top it up? Think you'd have to be talking in litres in order to be likely to get an overheat, although if you have less coolant then there's less to heat up, so I suppose it's more likely for it to boil off (so you'd lose more).

Had car checked at Sportstech by Ben,

It came up as a fault with tha "abs controller" but the problem had now gone. Anyway he cleared the fault and didn't charge me anything even though the problem had nothing whatsoever to do with the Revo remap. I cant reccommend these blokes enough.
