I have a Fabia vrs and after bang on 10 minutes the asr light comes on and it judders/runs rough.

i have changed the injector loom and that still hasn’t fixed the problem..

 

any suggestions as to what it is?

Do a search for "load signal wire".

Alternator output is supposed to vary by engine speed and load. The wires break. Simple wiring fix if you can get access from below.

havent had a look at the alternator wire yet but I just read the codes and 2 came up.

 

p0299 turbo underboosting

p0183 fuel temperature sensor

 

would they have anything to do with it? 
what would the underboosting be?

If you've got the check engine light on.

Those are probably additional worries, sadly.

Underboost may be sticking turbo VNT but more likely a hole in the boost piping or intercooler.

Fuel temp sensor is an easy fix/replace. That and the coolant one can fail. Both of mine went within three years of buying from new.

 So is that what comes on and not an 'engine check light' ?

Yes asr light comes on, then when in low revs and accelerating the car judders like mad

Fix the extremely common failure of the alternator load sense wiring then see how things are afterwards.

Yeah, probably. Bet your battery light doesn't come on with ignition either, cos both wires look to have broken and been abandoned. The angle of that photo is doing bad things to my neck! 

This is more like what you should be seeing, looking from the front, underneath, at the lower front of the gearbox (photo is of a petrol Polo, but should be similar).

Lowest, black, connector pair is alternator signal connections (and what is in your pic, in a strange place). The reddish brown pair above it is for the A/C compressor N280 valve.
