Wrong radiator...

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I've been a complete numpty and bought a 1.9 SDI radiator for a mk1 octavia, instead of getting a fabia one (also a mk1 1.9 SDI). Do we know if these are the same or am i going to have to get another?

Cheers!

What's the part number of what you've bought?

It's from a breaker on eBay so no part number, although this code is in one of the puctures-

RS1 203441740 J417

When i google the middle number it comes up with lots of VW group radiators, but didn't know if the bit at the end would make it specific to the octavia...

I think it's going to be a touch too long. Octy ones appear to be 650x414mm, Fabia ones 632x414.

Have you convinced yourself that your current one really needs replacement?  My experience is that leaks are most often simply due to the thermoswitch  (just above the bottom hose) needing tightening.

Well that's a pain. Thank you for the info.

It's a cat n that I'm repairing. Some very light front end damage to the bumper but a very small piece of plastic has broken off and speared the radiator so unfortunately it's spraying coolant out of the middle. I've decided to have a dabble with repairing a salvage car with working from home and a lot more spare time... all fun and games!

You can buy a new aftermarket rad for very few tenners.

At least it was cheap 😁

To be honest it was just the cheapest one I could quickly find. Budget is definitely an issue on this but to be honest, had a knows I could get a brand new one from eurocarparts for £10 more delivered the same day.... I think I would have done that 🙄 this is what happens when you rush...
