without going out and taking wheel off, would the normal alloy wheel fit in the spare wheel well or is it just designed for space saver wheel?

A full size alloy wheel and tyre fits in a Mark 1 Fabia wheel well, ask me how I know.

Because I carry one, my Elegance came with a full-sized spare.

Mine has always had a full size alloy spare wheel.

The previous owner must have done it.(probably didn't like space savers)

My 04MK1 1.4TDI  came with a steel full sized spare as standard.

 I have 205-45 / 16  spare wheels....but how about 215/45 /16....
