Map Update

Featured Replies

I have purchased a Skoda Rapid Spaceback 2018. I want to up date the maps, are they free, and can I update from a laptop to  usb stick. Has anyone done this.

Yes they are free, from the skoda map update portal. My wife's rapid reads them off an SD card - seems to have to be a Skoda branded nav SD card but if your maps are currently working, then they'll be on the SD card in the slot in the glove box for an SE Tech.  You just need to put your VIN into the box on this page and it will tell you which is the latest map. https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/

However..... I suspect, like me you have a 16GB SD card. With the very latest updates, ECE A1 2020/2021, it will not fit on a 16GB card. Prior to this, VAG carved up Europe maps into digestible chunks which would fit on a 16GB card - from memory I put the 2020 maps on for UK, BENELUX, NL, DE and FR. The maps have been out a week , and I have asked Skoda UK if they plan to offer them in smaller chunks but they have not yet replied.

So perhaps we all have to go out and buy Skoda 32GB nav cards if we wish to keep the maps up to date.

Thanks for the reply, I have been looking for the 32gb sd Skoda Navigation card, I have found some but they want to know what type of Amundsen unit I have, do you know I find out? I have a Skoda Rapid Spaceback 2018.

Just checked - the portal now has the smaller chunks of Europe on. Pick whichever is most useful.

Another poster says the 13GB download will fit when uncompressed on the 16GB card. I think your variant of Amundsen is MIB2 rather than MIB1  - there are some helpful photos out there which show you the differences.

Folks - we have been discussing this elsewhere on the forum - speak to @PetrolDave because he has experience with upgrading the SAT Nav Card to 32G on his Amunsden.  I've actually found that on my MIB2 system that 13G Maps (ECE A1 maps 20/21) *DO* fit on a 16G card, but I am going to be upgrading my sat nav card to a 32G (its on order from ebay).

I looked on the Skoda Portal this morning, and that big 32gb has been split up. The latest file now is 6gb. I downloaded and put it on the 16gb card, and hey presto, new maps!! Next job is to put the speed cameras on, bit of googling now!

Thanks guys for all the information

Hi,

sorry to jump on this post. I'm looking to update maps on my 2016 MK3 Octavia SE L and remembered that the Nav SD card I have is actually Volkswagen branded. I recall that the Skoda card that came with was corrupted and the salesman (non-skoda) gave me the VW card as a substitute.

I have downloaded the update files, but before I transfer them to the VW card does anyone know if this will work? or will I corrupt the card?

Thanks
