Problem with text messages

Have asked this before, but wondered if anyone had any new ideas.

Have connected my phone, Samsung galaxy s20+, via Bluetooth. I get no notifications that I have received a text, but main problem is when I try to listen to messages it reads the sender but not the message, I'll say "read text from Carol" and says "text message from Carol" and then stops.
