Post 10k tweaks????

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just registered after a few weeks of wandering some of the topics covered. I think there must be someone out there to steer me in the right direction?!?!?

I have had my vRS for 5 months now, and took it in for its 10k on Saturday. I had a bit of a ticking at idle but that's a charcoal filter thingy??!?!! so I'm now thinking that I'm about used to the performance. Don't get me wrong it still bring a smile to my face, I'm just getting greedy and wanting more!!!!

Now, I've read all about maps, chips etc and the various opinions that go with them. What I would like to know, out of everything that is possible to upgrade/mod the Octavia, what is the most satisfying addtion/change I can do to my little treasure . Firstly on a budget, name your price there, and secondly on a free rein????

I have looked at, and been recommended, Revo flashes and suspension tweaking?????!!!!!! Mmmm, not sure myself. As I'm sure everybody else wants, I want most bangs etc for my wad.

Comments please?????

:newbie:

Don't know about your budget but I would guess that if you're getting excited about clear indicator lenses you would love a Jabba re-map. From what I can gather

Jabba Re-Map

Thanks Lads,

Does anyone have comparable plots from the two mentioned on a 1.8T AUQ......any 1.8T will do if not.

The reason I mentioned Revo was that a) it being a stealth upgrade B) I can get updates when available c) could get a little plastic switchy thing to play with!!! :silly:

Has anyone got, or know about, information where several cars from the same stable have had several ECU upgrades from different sources implemented and then published for others to reference from?????

There's plenty of Jabba plots on Briskoda, just search for "Dyno Plots" or "plots"..

As for "little plastic switch thingy" i assume you mean the Revo SPS. Well, try adjusting that when you're driving ;) Alternatively, look here http://www.jabbasport.com/boost.html

As for "stealth", any re-map is detectable, if they look deep enough. :)

You see what you get with a Jabba remap and, if you want a fully variable stealth mode, you could get Jabba to fit their electronic boost controller - see here. Lots of members have had their cars Jabba'd but I think that we only have one member - ffelan - who tried REVO. I suggest you read his comments. Members who have had chip upgrades (including Superchip and APR) do not normally get their cars checked on a rolling road before and after the chipping, hence I think you will be lucky to find the comparison information you want. On the other quite a few dyno plots have been posted for Jabba'd cars. Have a look in the Jabbasport forum here.

PS: I am a very satisfied Jabbasport customer with quite a few more bhp and lb/ft to play with! :D

Wow, didn't know about the boost controller.

I presume that's plugginable for all Jabba remaps, including fabia vrs ones ?

If so, I'll deffo go down the Jabba road. The way I look at it is it's roughly the same price (maybe a little cheaper) to get the Jabba remap + boost controller than the Revo, plus you get the benfit of an integrated package and all the real labour thrown in...

jm2pw + 1 ?

Xavier.

The diesel does not have the ability to control the boost from inside the car. They just remap it, and it's down to the use of the throttle to control the car...

If you've got a bit more cash available then I think Huck(?) has an ABT(?) set up with his car. And maybe Colin too. I really must pay more attention. Not sure what the advantages (over Jabba) are but they seem to like it.

Colin & Huck are APR'd ;)

And so are their cars :D

ABT, APR, whatever...

I've got Superchips because I didn't have any choice.

Read the small print.

Superchips arn't that good but I do have a cunning plan...

So you're finally going to ignore the ***** you lease the car from and go to Jabba? :D

Sshh! She's just come back from work!

Hmm, not planning to tell MrsRich too? That'll be 2 counts of deception, i hope they throw the key away :D

I've thought long and hard about this too.

I've decieded on a Jabba remap for the following reasons :-

  • They map the car to your requirements (top end power, low down torque etc).

  • They do pre and post treatment maps so you see the increase as well as feeling it through the old butt dyno ;)

  • All the switchable maps are detectable as Skoda will send away the ECU for interogation if they supect something is up (engine blowing up etc)

  • Jabba's boost controller can be used to turn things down if you have a batch of dodgy fuel or unpluged for 'stealth mode'

  • It's the cheapest

The only con is that Peterborough is a long way from Cumbria.

Steve

I didn't think you were admitting to that any more? :D

Its an equally long way from Hartlepool, but that didn't stop me ;)

I suggest you go for a morning appointment. The early start is a pain, but the car will be done for lunchtime and the traffic should be light enough on the way back for you to "test" :drive:

If you go for an afternoon booking, you'll hit the traffic coming back north :(

And watch out for the cameras, theres hundreds of the buggers.

Oh bummer. Would have noticed that if I read it all (the mention of a N75 DV should have given the game away). I was just too excited ;)

So there isn't yet a switchable / adjustable TDi PD remap available ? I can't remember if the Revo SPS system is PD compatible or only works on the 20VVT engines. And I'm too lazy to read about it on their website, don't think I'd be going there anyway...

Just out of interest Jason, are you going for the serial generic remap or the custom one? IIRC, it's a custom, but please remind my poor brain ;)

From a quick scan on the Revo site, it seems the diesels only have the SPS1 option, which if i remember correctly allows switching between "Performance" and "Stock" programs.

Basically its an On / Off switch.

For REVO you'll pay around 600 squid for the basically program on top of which you have to pay 99 squid for each program and then IIRC 150 squid for the SPS unit.

Jabba you pay 475 pre Briskoda discount (10%) fro a custom rolling road remap.

If you interested in the discount then PM me you full name a contact number and the car you have. Can't do anything at the moment as I'm on holiday in Malaysia (30Deg C). Back in the first week of Dec.

Cheers.

Adrian.
