Superb Estate MKIII Rear Bumper Removal

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the direction of an exploded diagram, or details of how to remove the rear bumper on a MK3 estate; video anything.

I have just ordered a towbar and understand that you need to remove the rear bumper to install it.

I have found loads of pictures/information regarding how to remove the front bumper, alas not the rear.

Thanks in advance.

I've removed the rear diffuser, but not the entire rear bumper.

I did have a look at the workshop manual, and it's a lot more tricky than removing the front bumper.

I've removed the front twice.

I think I have the PDF, I'll find it n send it to u.

The guide says its a 2 man job, and I vaguely remember helping my fitter with the bumper.... but I do remember that both the exhaust back boxes were removed from their hangers to help in this process.

The hole that you cut in the bumper is on the underside, so it wont be visible from the top.

Check and re-check all the wiring and screws before you refit the trim panels. Some of them are fatherless to refit.

Thanks Gents. It is one of those 'not looking forward to' jobs...

I assume estate removal is very similar to saloon.

Towbar itself fitted as well as the wiring.

FYI, I took the 12V feed for the relay from the boot cigarette lighter.

The worst bit I found was removing the very front bumper eyelet mounts.

Cutting the bumper was easier than expected. Instead of using an electric jigsaw, I used a sharp Stanley knife.

Thanks for any help and words of wisdom.
