Battery replacement or something else?

Featured Replies

So something bizarre  is happening with the car:
I noticed the following yesterday and today before starting the car:
The Kessy system stopped working (key battery replaced today)
Coming home / leaving home fog light stopped working
The boots lights stopped work
The cabin lights don’t work when the door is opened.

Ended up going for 5 mins drive to the local shops to grabs some essentials by the time I got there everything started to work. Come back to the car and everything is off again.

The battery was only replaced less than a year ago. I checked the status via the Skoda app it’s showing 14.7v with engine on and 11.5v with engine off.

Are these signs that the battery need to be replaced again?

Does sound like low battery issues. Was the replacement battery the correct type and coded to the car?

It was replaced by the dealer. Seems like the likely cause, I’ll call Skoda assist to confirm if the battery is the issue.

Has it been standing for long periods during lock down with only the odd short journey?

If so it could be just a low battery which needs a good long run to get it back up. There have been a few posts on this subject.

Mine did the same a few weeks ago. Actually failed to start start on the key after 4 weeks without use & needed a boost charge to get it going. Also the Stop start hasn't kicked in whilst driving for at least 5 weeks now - which is no great loss. Presumably this is due to low charge state of the battery due low usage & short runs.

Yours could be a new battery but my guess is its lack of use. If you have one stick a charger on the battery on a trickle charge setting for a few days & see how you go.

something is not right, especially if the dealer replaced it with a new battery only last year!!

wat did they replace it with?

go back to the dealer n tell them the issue.  could've been a faulty battery.

mine was replaced (last month) under warranty with a new Varta battery.  since mine is MY17, the 5 yr warranty covers it.

there were no issues with it apart from start-stop had stopped working.  so when i took it in for its 3yr 45k km service, i asked them to check out the battery.

tests proved it was on its way out.
