I have a Skoda superb 2lt petrol,  currently fitted with 235/45 R18 93W Pirelli tyres .

I am wanting to fit some 245

 

I need to find out the correct rim size, according to a chart I have seen, I believe they are 8" 

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3
245/45 R18 100Y XL J

Can anyone here confirm that the size of the size of the rims are 8"?

Can anyone tell me if the Goodyear tyres will fit?

In other words can I co from a 235 to a 245

As per the chart below

Toyo gives the approved rim width range for all the tyre sizes that they sell. These approved rim width ranges are set by ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation) which all tyre manufacturers that sell in Europe follow. So all tyre manufacturers that sell 245/45R18 tyres in Europe will recommend a rim width range of 7.5J to 9.0J as they are all following ETRTO's guidelines

 

If you look at the Toyo link above, you will see that the lower profile 245/40R18 and 245/35R18 tyres, have a 8.0J to 9.5J recommended rim width range.

 

Therefore, the minimum rim width for 245/35R18 and 245/40R18 tyres is 8J, but the minimum rim width for a 245/45R18 tyre is 7.5J.

The rim size you have will be cast into the back of one of the spokes of the rim.
