Looking to install head unit with apple carplay

Featured Replies

Own a fabia mk2 pre facelift 2009. Looking to put a new stereo in that has apple carplay. Any recommendations? Will need advice on wiring adapter etc.

lots of people fit the cheap chinese units etc etc and then realise how bad they are, they are cheap though..............albeit for a reason.

You say you want apple play ??? for what exactly ? music or satnav or ??

both really, I like the interface of the apple CarPlay software, I have seen others purchase the Chinese ones and heard of problems connecting phones etc so would assume that if I was to pay the extra cash for one with apple CarPlay I would not have these problems

really depends on budget.

A decent "named" brand unit is going to be upwards of £800 + ............................like this for example....

its the Apple play that adds the cost considerably.

the other option is a Factory Nav unit like an RNS315 or 510, will do everything you want EXCEPT Apple play....... but will be around £350 ish.....

Both options above avoid the chinese rubbish.

In full agreement with @UrbanPanzer on the Chinese rubbish.  I've just swapped out this (Chinese rubbish)....

For this (Skoda Amundsen+)....

And it really is like night and day.  The Chinese unit was buggy, clunky, prone to crashing, had some awful counter intuitive menus, some questionable functions, and generally just felt awful to use, cheap and nasty.  The Skoda unit works smoothly, and does everything it's supposed to.   Neither unit was new enough to have Carplay mind.

+1 on avoiding Chinese rubbish.
