Because DAB transmitters are less powerful, the frequency they operate at is higher so the losses are greater and there are less transmitters around the country - what you are seeing is just normal RF transmission issues it's not a problem with your radio.

 

On the drives from where I live to either of the nearest towns (Barnstaple and Tiverton) there are several DAB "holes" in both my Octavia and my other car.

Can also be rf interference from phone chargers etc. Try unplugging if you have one.

^^ this - and some dashcam chargers also do it.
