Admunsen Map update fails

Featured Replies

I've down loaded the latest Map for the Admunsen  which is ECE 2020/2012.

I've copied the old SD contents to my PC.

Formatted the SD card and unzipped the new map to the SD card.

When i insert the SD card the Admundsen either:

Hangs with message 'Checking Navigation Data...' or

displays the message 'Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data'.

I've tried copying the  saved map data back onto the SD card but the same messages are displayed.

Can anyone advise how I can get myself out of this situation without paying money to a Skoda dealer.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

I have some cards for sale, updated to latest maps as a last resort. I do a part exchange for your old card or you can just outright purchase.

See here...

Or there's the journey of finding out what you did wrong.  First up, did you download the correct maps for your particular version ofAmundsen?
Are you using a Mac computer?

What exactly did you copy to the card and whereabouts on the card did you copy it to?

What's the part number on your card?

What's the part number of your unit?

Hi Rusty,

to answer your questions

the map data I'm using is the one presented on http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB/Updates/

when I enter my VIN No. It claims to be valid from CW 25 2020.

I'm using Windows10.

I originally extracted the whole contents of the zip file to the top directory of the SD card. The only thing present before extraction was the System Volume Information folder.

The card Part No is 202570    5E0 051 236C

The unit Part No is 5E0035874A

Hope that answers your questions

The download was STD1_P94_EU_202022

Just wondered what should the SD volume name be?

Okay, so you have an Amundsen MIB1 unit, an MIB1 card, and it appears as though you've downloaded the Amundsen MIB1 maps. So that's good.

I guess it all depends now on what you've done wrong with unzipping and transferring. So put your SD card in the computer, and go to "This PC", double click on the SD card and what do you see when it opens?

I'm not in the workshop at the moment so I can't test properly, but you should only have Markets and DBinfo.txt files there. Why have you got "show hidden files" enabled and why are you considering playing about with renaming "System volume information"?

Hi,

the markets and DBInfo.txt are present.

the show hidden files has just been left on by default. I'm not planning to rename System Volume Information.

I wonder if I start again with the following steps:

Format SD card to FAT32.

I've read alternatives of

1) Unzip Map data onto PC hard drive and then copy to SD card

or

2) zip Map Data directly to SD card.

In theory there shouldn't be a difference.

I should then just have to insert the SD card into slot 2 on the unit.

I'm not sure what else to try. I've ensured that hidden files remain hidden.

Unzip to hard drive and then copy to SD card would always be my preferred option.

Hi  Rusty,

thanks for the guidance, I repeated the steps discussed but used a different PC and it now all works.

There must be something slightly off on off on the PC or else I did something different without realising it.

Thanks again,

Mark
