Hi all, I am new to Skoda, loved the old world ones but TBH was never gonna buy one. Just moved from a Volvo which I had for 11 years and test drove a few cars before visiting the Skoda dealer. Didn't know they made the Kamiq but I eat drove it and well.........had to buy it. The best of my test drives which had included Mazda, Audi (Yep I did say Audi) Toyota and Honda. I have had a steep learning curve of coming to terms with all the new technology that goes into lane assist and stop start and cruise control with distance managing, and  tbh I'm not a fan of most so switch a lot of it off before a journey. I am also amazed that the 1 litre engine of my Kamiq delivers 115 PS  my 1.6 diesel Volvo did only gave 109 PS.

It's my new car and ok I'm excited.

Welcome,

Thinking back, I had a xantia estate, 1.9diesel, it made 97hp. I think. But I know you could drop the back seats, load it to the roof, and it still chugged along. Mind that was from the 90's. The only thing I don't like about the little petrols is steep hills with lots of stuff/people on board. But thats so infrequent ;) I do like the free revy, peppy almost character they have.

I had a 10yr old volvo last year and it's still better in some regards.  But eclipsed by many more.

The only tech I use, or specifically wanted was the adaptive cruise. Nothing else I felt I 'needed'. And it's a godsend once used to it on the motorway/traffic.

Prepare to be startled once in a while if you're driving on a A/B road though. eg your pootling along at 50MPH. You get to one of those bends with the sharp bend chevrons. Maybe it has trees all around it.  Occasionally the radar/sensors will think it's a stationary object and you're not reacting, it can't see the road curving away, that your yet to turn... so it sounds a high pitched alarm and a big red warning triangle.

1st time it did it to me I almost went straight on.

Enjoy it,  :)
