Felicia brakes upgrade???

Featured Replies

Hi

I run a group N felicia rally car, its a forrest spec but as im a student and skint 9 months out of 12 im running tarmack events. My biggest concern is the brakes are cooking. Tarmack is far to hard on the standard ones and by the end of a stage its a bit like russian rullet with the corners. Ive searched the net and cant find any inspiration. The kit car ran 280-322mm racing brakes but i cant afford the loss in accel of fitting a 17" rim to accomodate them. Is there any other skoda calipers or set ups i could fit with modification? I reckon its roughly sizes with the nova disc and caliper, only difference being its a 22mm disc instead of 12 and a wider caliper. Both being lucas i figure the nova caliper maybe just will mount on the hub ok, its a long shot but im out of ideas. Any help would be great guys

Cheers

Steve

Have a word with Mike at JBS in the JBS section. They fitted some VR6 front brakes to thier 1.8T Fun, they might give you som.e pointers.

Failing that i've got some Ibiza Cupra (Mk3) calipers the would fit with some adaption. Got the whole set up inc discs although they are a little rusty. The main problem would seem to be that the carrier on the felicia isnt threaded, the hub is. Where as most of the larger carriers are threaded and the hub just has a clear hole to pass the bolt through. My idea was to drill out the thread to the next size and pass a bolt though, then just nut it on the other end, there is plenty of room. Plus the Ibiza discs are allready 4 x 100. However I never got around to doing it.

Still this guy on the caddy forum who lives out in sunny Portugal has fitted 312mm brakes up front and discs on the back of his Felicia Pick up..lol

Well done that man, apart from fitting the calipers on the wrong way around.
