Skoda Fabia 2 Front electric windows & mirrors

Featured Replies

Hello,

new to this forum, so apologies if I have written this in the wrong section. I know that my issue has been covered a lot, but I am still stumped.....

I’ve checked both 25amp fuses which are ok, I’ve checked for any loose wires near the door hinges and removed and reinstalled plug, I’ve removed the door card and couldn’t see any loose wires. Window switch has been replaced so not that.....

there doesn’t seem to be any power going to the switch according to the multi meter?

the motors inside the window are fine because both windows operate when you turn the key manually in the door lock.

any ideas would be appreciated.

thank you

Wow

Welcome to the forum.

The threads in the Mk2 Fabia Section and 'Guides' tell you about the broken loom at the doors,

There are recent threads covering what you need.

Dave - did you work it out?  I have exactly the same issue. I replaced the full door harness today with new one from Skoda (ie have no broken wires!).    Windows work with the key in the door (turn and hold) but not via the switch.   Switch is good - I stripped and checked the full mechanism out, cleaned it up but the contacts were all good.    Fuses are all fine.

Anyhow - just interested how you got on.

cheers

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I’ve given up on the damn thing.... I did briefly get the drivers side window to go up and down by wiggling the wires that plug into the switch itself, so it’s obviously a loose connection somewhere, I just can figure out where?

My clutch is slipping, the timing belt needs changing and I’m pretty sure the drivers side c.v joint in knackered, so the car will be gone soon (it’s doing my head in) will never have another skoda again.

regards,

Dave

thanks for the update!   Shame about the other issues too......we are the other end of the Fabia2  spectrum, 120K miles and great so far but this is maddening!  I will plug away,  at least here in scotland its cooling down so less window opening action going on...

s2will, please don't assume the switch is working... Check it out by trying that one in another car or another switch, to be sure. They can be very misleading. Same to you, Dave1982.

The clutch will almost certainly cost about £300 from a clutch fitter so if done, it will give you a two year peace of mind on that front. I don't know how you drive but if the car is otherwise a scrapper, leave the belt as it will cost at least the same again. The C.V. should not be too prohibitive on its own. The clutch and CX.V. may well help you get a better PX, when the time arrives.

I’ve owned over 30 cars and never had any issues with power windows.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve tried two separate switches, so unlikely to be that

are the windows completely stuck or will the window kinda flutter when you push/pull the window button?

Is it a permanent problem or is it only sometimes?
