Variable service - can't reset oil quality to good

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Apologies for bring this topic up yet again but I've done a fair bit of searching & can't find an answer.

I've just completed a service & used the correct oil etc so would like to change from fixed to variable servicing. I checked the codes on the car maintenance booklet & it does show a variable service interval (QI6). I reset SRI with VCDS & then went in & tried to change the oil quality from poor to good. VCDS says it's accepted the change but after reloading it's still poor. The next maintenance is showing approx 1 yr.

I got this procedure from here.

Am I missing something else?

Many thanks

My car once took nearly four days to show the service change on the car. Other times have been within one to two days.

Thanks for the reply but still no joy with this. Oil quality remains at poor despite many attempts to change it to good. Next service is still about 1 yr.

I wonder if anyone has any idea where to go from here?

The Rosstech page linked talks about (re)enabling the TOG sensor, I guess that's the oil level/temperature sensor in the sump. Have you done that?

Gary M's post 2/3 of the way down page 3 seems to have broken the deadlock for him.

Thanks for the info. I've re-enabled the TOG sensor, bit more here.

The oil quality is still stuck at poor but perhaps it requires some time to update?

Can't seem to find the post you mentioned from Gary - here it is

Finally got this sorted out.

Turns out there's a few more settings to update: I changed a few, & I believe a combination of these changes are required but can't confirm exactly which. The changes I made include:

Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Status ESI or SID

Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Selection of ESI or SID

Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Oil level (not sure about this one particularly)

Following these (& the previous re-enabling the TOG) changing

Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Oil quality

immediately resulted in '---' in oil service due date/miles

Hope this helps others!

PS. Does anyone know what:

Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - remote clock receiver

Does??
