Yeti 2017 compared to 2013

Featured Replies

My 2011 CR 170 TDi (Revo remapped, lowered, Bilsteins and updated ARB’s ) averaged brim to brim 41.2 mpg over 64500 miles driven ‘con brio’ on Shell V Power.

Driven like Miss Daisy, I regularly saw 55+ mpg on the Maxidot.

The replacement Karoq 190 TDi DSG is giving just over 40mpg @ 1400 miles, driven less enthusiastically to date!

I know from experience that the already optimistic Maxidot figures become even more fantasylike after a remap!

I reset mine with VCDS but after fooling myself for so long (and I knew from the brim to brim figures that I was) I jst could not cope with the now true low mpg figures being shown 😞

On my Octavia I decided to put it back & to make up for my dissapointment I overcorrected it the other way as much as it would let me (+ 9% IIRC) and then I was getting the sort of figures that some like to photograph and post on here.

I sold the vehicle last week and the guy is over the moon with the fuel economy 😁 I wonder if it will take him as long to wise up as it did me 🤫

The Maxidot on my 2010 170 over-reads by about 15%. Suggests longterm average is over 50mpg, reality is about 44/45. Can get a genuine 50+ on a run if driven carefully.

Update:- fuel consumption on "new" 2017 Yeti 1.2Tsi has been 42.27 mpg over nearly 400 miles , 200 miles of which were 70mph motorway. Brimming tank method, not MaxiDot which was a similar read-out. Satisfied.

That is excellent!

Here in France diesel is still quite a bit cheaper than petrol but nowhere near the gap it once was, we all know the end game.

I believe in the UK petrol is now cheaper than diesel, is that so? If so what are the relevant prices or if you prefer, how many mpg would a diesel Yeti need to return to have the same fuel costs per mile as AWfabias 1.2 petrol @ 42.2 mpg?

An update on mine, after cleaning the clogged up throttle valve & the inlet manifold where I could reach it my economy has increased significantly, on my control journey to & from the running club that I do 3 times a week always under the exact same traffic conditions (no traffic :D) and driving in the same economy manner I am getting I think 15% or more better economy, I did many miles of offroad driving yesterday, never getting out of 2nd gear which returned 37 mpg which also seemed very good but I have no comparison, the last time I did offroading was 1990.

Today was a tank refill so I have reset the 2 average fuel counters & will know better what the overall increase is at the next refill & will keep the long term counter going until it resets itself, it had recorded 2600 miles so it must have a higher reset limit than earlier cars. Be interesting to see if there is the same difference between measured & indicated MPG.

based on current UK prices of £1.117 / litre for diesel and £1.087 / litre for petrol you would need to achieve mpg 43.43 mpg to get the same cost per mile as for 1.2 petrol (@ 42.27mpg)

Yes my calculation using different prices (applicable here!) was 43.56 mpg, so as above...

2015 yr 1.4 Petrol AWD Actual average mpg over last17,000 miles 43.1mpg, maxidot average 46.4, so an average error of 7% which was about the same error as the Octavia I had previously..
