Loud Beep

Featured Replies

Twice today my 20 Reg Skoda Scala emitted a long beep....and then my navigation went and my Infotainment system closed down and rebooted...any ideas ?

Hi Jez,  did your infotainment error sort itself out in the end?

I had this exact same thing happen to me,  I even had it booked into Marshalls MK to sort it out, however 2 days before it was due to go in the infotainment software upgraded and I haven't had the issue since.

It is worth noting, that mine only seems to update if the power is on but without the engine running.  I have actually had another update recently too, so think they must be sorting some tech bugs out.  Definitely worth leaving the key in it with the power and radio on next time you wash it and see if it updates.

Hi Jez, did yours get sorted?

Mine has started doing it again, and very frequently, every 10 minutes!

Booked in at Marshalls MK for the recall OCU issue on Friday and asked them to look into this issue too.

could  be you front assist that has a loud beep keep your radar clean any road dirt can impair. And you can set the sensitivity from Early Normal and Late. Mine used to go off all the time till i set to Late

It's a very different beep to the front assist.  Only way I could maybe describe it is like the mechanical dial up beep that you used to get when connecting to the internet, and it is very distinctly coming from the sound system speakers.   I had the OCU recall done last week, they investigated but couldn't find any fault logged in the system.  Has been ok since, will give it another couple of months and see if it reoccurs.

OCU recall didn't fix it, went 3 times in 50 minute drive this morning. Grr!

Indeed it does, and you get a caution on the virtual dash telling you as such.

This is purely an infotainment error with Amundsen unit though, as when the continuos beep finally stops after about 10seconds the screen shuts down (black) reboots (skoda logo) signs into primary user and continues where it left off. This sequence of events can sometimes be 30 seconds long and up to 1 minute in 1 case today.

A google shows this has been a continues issue with Amundsen units.

Some suggestions include;

Update android auto,

Use a different USB cable for connection,

Update firmware on head unit.

I have tried all of these, I have even tried driving without phone in car so no connection to bluetooth or android auto and just listening to radio and the infotainment still crashed.

Marshalls Skoda MK found no error logged in the system.

The only way to fix it is to completely factory reset the Amundsen unit.  That way you get between 1-2months rest before it occurs again.

The pain with this however is that if like me, you customise the infotainment with preffered stations, contacts, locations, icons etc then you have to redo every time you reset.  Which lets face it, is not a real solution.

By all means google 'skoda amundsen crash and restart'  seems as though it effects the whole VAG with amundsen units. Odd considering they are the higher end unit.
