Karoq oil change reqired

Featured Replies

Bought a new Karoq  TDI 2.0 4x4 in Jan this year. Because of lockdown/furlough it only had 8000 miles on it.

Yesterday,  got in, started it, and noticed all my settings, date, time, radio, display, etc had changed (possibly reset to factory settings). Plus it now had 9300 miles on it and a warning that the oil required changing.

It has been sitting in the driveway for the past week, and definitely not been out for a 1300 mile drive. Thinking it may be some sort of computer 'glitch'!

Anyone experienced this type of thing?

And if it is a glitch, do you think the oil will really need changing at 8000 or 9000 miles?

Thanks

Welcome.

Do you mean you have done 8,000 miles since January, but not 9,300 miles?

If the car was new in January it arrived at the dealers of Variable / Flexible Servicing.

Did you ask to have it changed to Fixed Servicing, so @ 9,400 miles / 372 days, what ever comes first?

The oil does not need changed at 8,000 or 9,000 miles as it is long life oil suitable for 18,000-20,000 miles.

But,

If on Fixed Servicing on the Service Interval Indicator you best have a Oil & Filter change, or discuss with the Dealership you got it from why it is on Fixed Servicing.

Sorry but no idea why your Mileometer should have added miles if that is what has happened.

Many thanks for your reply.

Yes, the car had only 8000 miles on it, but mysteriously changed to 9300 while parked in drive.

I'm pretty sure it is on flexible servicing, and we asked to be put on flexible when we bought it.

Is there a way I can tell?

Unfortunately dealership (Arnold Clark Skoda Inverness), now closed for good, and servicing etc now taken over by Arnold Clark Hyundai Inverness.

They're not interested in what has happened, and tell me this is impossible, and I need the oil changed at £148 (pricey!)

Also, pre paid for 4 services and 2 MOTs with Arnold Clark, but don't want to use a 'service' just for an oil change.

Have had problems in the past with Arnold Clark, and wishing now I had stayed clear of them.

You best look at your service plan and see if it is 4 services at 'Fixed Service Intervals, it must be.

Service 1 at Year 1 or 9,400 miles.

1st Mot at 3 years, 2nd at 4 years.

There is no way they were doing to be doing 2 year intervals & the 4th service in 2028.

Are you sure the mileage display isn't cycling between trip and total miles...?

Or,. Showing 'oil change due' and Service in 9,300 miles because as usual an AC tech / fitter messed up resetting the car from 'in transit'.   If variable / flexible servicing was requested the car arrived at AC on that setting.   One thing, unlikely, but your car was taken for WLTP retesting when it arrived in the UK.  Some are retested and go missing in action for a week or 3.
