Servicing 1.4tsi for the first time since i bought this car

Featured Replies

I bought it at its 26493k miles November 2019. Now Its been 37k, reached just today.

I don't have service book to check the service interval. they said they all are digitally recorded in SKODA website. Would somebody with SIMILAR CAR tell me whats the service interval for this car and also recommend me the service parts, like what is the best engine oil and specification for this car?

Do I need to conside changing the brake fluid as it wasn't been changed yet (i belive) and also whatabout gearbox oil? Someone said me that this car doesn't require gearbox oil changed. by the way, car is octavia 1.4tsi 150bhp, 67plate.

thank you.

Brake fluid is 1st changed at 3 years old then every 2 years thereafter

Sounds like its on variable service intervals as fixed servicing is every 9,300 miles. The car will tell you when it needs servicing

Someone will have said the DSG did not need an oil change because it is a DQ200 with no service schedule / guidelines for changing the oil.

The best oil is the correct one for the car from whoever.

So VW504 / 507 for Fixed or Variable Service Intervals.  5w 30 FS III (that is long life)

or for Fixed Service Intervals you could go to VW502, so 5w 40 FS.

Pollen filter needs looked at and cleaned (vacuumed) or Replaced.

Same with the Air Filter. Needs checked for condition and maybe replaced. 6 years is too long to leave depending on locations locations locations driven.

Spark Plugs changed could be 'Simply Clever' @ 4 years.  That was the scheduled replace time when it was Minor Major Service time about.

I have driven more than 10k miles since I bought it and its been around 10 months now. I checked my Service in the infoteinment system and surprisingly it says

Inspection in 9400 mi or 304 days

Oil change service in 8100 mi or 304days.

So it is on Variable / flexible servicing.

It is up to you then if you want to leave it that long until it gets serviced, or maybe you could do things sooner.

Looking in the Air Box to see the condition of the Air Filter might be an idea.

Removing and cleaning the Pollen Filter or replacing might be worth doing.

At least check if you have no record of when things were done and when.

The Brake Fluid can be checked for H2o content if you are not going to be changing the fluid for another year.

The Spark Plugs used to be replaced at 4 years / 40,000 miles (2nd Major Service).  It might be an idea to replace them before the 60,000 mile interval that Skoda have started showing.

I had a talk with Skoda dealer today and they said that they have the digital record of servicing of this car back in 2018 when it was with 20k. then I bought it in November 2019 and CarShop did full servicing with 26k. I don't mind to do servicing again.

Transcity skoda gave me a quote of £425 for full servicing (Oil, oil filter, airfilter, spark plugs and cabin filter if needed). I am guessing if i just buy the servicing materials from main dealer and have the servicing from my local garage in front of my eyes that will come way more cheaper.

does anyone know the oil specification for this car?

P.S: does anyone know if I need to be worried about gear oil changing for this car. Someone said that this car has no option of gear oil changing. I forgot who was it.
